Factors associated with mortality among extremely preterm infants at Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children

Introduction: Management of extremely preterm infants under 28 weeks gestation remains a challenge for neonatal care. This study was carried out to describe morbidity and mortality rates investigate factors associated with in this group. Methods: A longitudinal conducted from admission discharge or death on 102 who were managed at the Neonatal Unit, Da Nang Hospital Women Children May 1, 2020 30, 2022. Result: The mean gestational age 25.5 an average weight 815.2 grams. Respiratory distress syndrome requiring surfactant occurred 58.8%. Intraventricular haemorrahage grade III-IV 14.7% necrotizing enterocolitis 6.9%. rate 49%, 70% among < 26 gestation, 28.8% - gestation. Gestational age, shock, invasive mechanical ventilation neonates. Every 1 week increase reduced risk by 2.5 times. Shock increased Odds ratios being 17.7 49.9, respectively.
